Reimagining Frank Ocean Cover Art Using AI
Remixing the cover art for Swim Good, Moon River, & Biking
If you regularly keep up with the business and technology world you’ve likely been hearing a lot of buzz around artificial intelligence (AI). I’m no expert in business or technology (yet) so I’m not here to give you my take on AI and it’s implications on life as we know it.
However, I would like to explore two of the more popular AI products that have received lots of attention — OpenAI’s ChatGPT & DALL-E. ChatGPT is currently on version four and DALL-E is on version two. Expect them to both rapidly increase in capabilities in the near future.
I thought it would be fun to use both products to reimagine what album art might look like if it were generated by AI. Below is a rough outline of my process if you’d like to try on your own:
Step One: Choose a song.
- For this article I decided to go with my boy Frank Ocean and his three best songs (in my opinion) Swim Good, Moon River, and Biking. These three songs were all released as singles as well which allows us to compare the AI generated art to the official cover art.
Step Two: Create an image generation prompt using ChatGPT + the selected song lyrics.
