Everything you need to know about going on a Workaway
What comes to mind when you think of traveling?
Are you lying on a beach at a five-star resort sipping piña coladas? Maybe you’re a winter person and dream of vacationing in the mountains and skiing at a grandiose lodge? If you’re a foodie, perhaps a wine tour in the luxurious countryside might sound more appealing?
Well, let me introduce a new way of traveling — one that still allows you to lounge on the beach, ski in the mountains, and sip wine at a vineyard — all for the price of a plane ticket.
Sound too good to be true?
I won’t mislead you — you’ll likely have to give up the fancy lodging and may even have to get your hands dirty, but I promise you it’s worth it.
Still with me?
What I’m describing is called a Workaway opportunity. If you need a more concrete definition, here you go:
Workaway is a platform that allows members to arrange homestays and cultural exchange. Volunteers or “Workawayers”, are expected to contribute a pre-agreed amount of time per day in exchange for lodging and food, which is provided by their host. — Wikipedia
